A week with more depressing news as it has come to light that those of us who made the ‘mistake’ of changing jobs (in order to move up the ladder) are getting slammed on pension company ‘charges’. There’s a novelty.
On the brighter side, there’s a new government incentive doing the rounds whereby companies get a sub for taking on young unemployed. However most companies, if they need anyone (unlikely), usually want someone who can just step in and get on with things – they don’t have time for training even if it is being paid for. We shall see.
Without further ado, here are the top ten.
1. Amazon – Rugeley Warehouse Fulfilment Centre
2. Christmas Jobs – 85,000+ of them
3. Morrisons’ Wrexham Superstore
5. Marks and Spencer, Cheshire Oaks, Ellesmere Port
7. Tesco, Glasgow Forge Retail Park
8. Waitrose Superstore, Walton-le-Dale
9. Westfield-Stratford Shopping Centre
Just outside of the top ten are:
- Am I unemployable? (my favourite)
- New Forth Road bridge
- How to write a covering letter
- Marks and Spencer Christmas jobs
- BHS, Hartlepool
Some very strange banana-brains graced our presence this week. If you want a giggle, here you are.
First place: “Hi I’m looking to offer our services to your new store in the <location>. We are a local business that offers Dry cleaning and alteration’s with over 50 years experience and work to a very high standard. We can pick up and deliver your items on a daily bases. We also work 7 days 24 hours. I hope this can be a help to you.”
We’d be hard-pressed not to give this the number one position.
Second place: “pakinj jobs espirase”
That was the gibberish award, definitely. We’ve not left anything out – it was just those three ‘words’. Happy deciphering.
Third place: “How do you apply for jobs ?”
What can you say to someone who asks a daft question like this? We’ve thousands of blog pages all about jobs and applying for them. In the immortal words of the great Homer, “D’oh!”.
That’s it. Another week in paradise over and done with. Hope it went well with you and that you hit the right note with your job applications.
