The top three remained unchanged from last week as Amazon continues to dominate the rankings with their lease of the massive Rugeley warehouse.
The week started quietly but rapidly got busier with many visitors gratifyingly visiting our help pages. So, without more idle chit-chat, here’s the top ten.
1. Amazon – Rugeley Warehouse Fulfilment Centre
It’s just glued at Number 1. In case you are one of the last two people in the UK who didn’t know, Amazon have taken over Britain’s biggest independently owned warehouse. The 6.4 hectares of covered space will be used as a Fulfillment Centre where 700 job vacancies will be created.
2. Morrisons’ Wrexham Superstore
Also stuck firmly at Number 2 is the story of how Morrisons are constructing a superstore in Wrexham at the site of the old Council depot. The huge supermarket will create an estimated 350 job vacancies and hopefully engage some of the council people who got made redundant.
3. Westfield Stratford City Shopping Centre
In third place and a stalwart of our top ten, is the even bigger multi-million pound development in Westfield Stratford in preparation for the London Olympics. Theoretically there will be a promised 14,000 job vacancies but didn’t someone say that promises are made to be broken?
There is going to be a huge Tesco superstore at Yate in Gloucestershire. The 1.4 hectare store will create hundreds of job vacancies when it opens in October. Tesco will be retailing a wide range of products from phones and electrical goods to clothing and groceries.
5. Asda Superstore In Birkenhead
Down one place is Asda’s new Birkenhead superstore. Asda are certainly playing the game having spent just under £800m taking over Netto. However, if you are from the Wirral, make yourself know to Asda because there are 250 full-time and 150 part-time jobs up for grabs.
6. Marks And Spencer Cheshire Oaks Superstore
Not a million miles from our Number 5 in the popularity stakes is the story of how Marks and Spencer are building a 14,000 square metre flagship superstore at Cheshire Oaks on the Wirral. The iconic company say that there will be 350 job vacancies.
7. Amazon Customer Service Centre In Edinburgh
Amazon are also engaged on an ambitious expansion plan and the new Customer Service Centre in Edinburgh is a key part of it. If you live or fancy living in Lothian, there will be an estimated 900 job vacancies available.
8. Buckingham Palace Job Vacancies
Wanted cleaner with big brush capable of sweeping any hint of a scandal under a nearby carpet. Still, Buck Pal does seem to be one of the few places where you know the fittings haven’t all been bought on tick. If you can cope with the Royal Command then go for it, but if you find your new bosses split up and you have to move on, beware of what ‘severance pay’ might mean …
Dedicated to the band of losers who have besieged me this week with “send me application form”, “i wan appli”, “Tell me when u hav vacancys”, and “were is the form”. The latter adds spice to it when the comment is on the same page as the direct link to the actual job application page. My personal theory is that the number of unemployed is actually inflated by all those who are clearly braindead.
10. How To Write A Covering Letter
Too many people blow their chances with a grotty covering letter. This is where you should be saying “Give me an interview” but too many people seem to put “Don’t bother with me I’m a loser” or “You’re the twentieth company I applied for today”. A bit of care can make all the difference – read our suggestions and see why this page is so popular.
Another week which raced by – is this a mark of how busy I’ve been or am I just getting older? Did you agree with what’s hot and what’s not?
