There’s nothing much good to report in a global sense. 165,000 came out of work in the US last month and they’ve been the trendsetters over there for the last few decades so what hope do we have? The one thing to remember is that you are you, and no-one else, and so if you can get yourself into a job, that’s a 100% success.
Here are your most-visited stories which we hope have inspired you to renewed efforts.
1. Amazon – Rugeley Warehouse Fulfilment Centre
Another week at number 1 for this giant of a job opportunity with Amazon in their Rugeley warehouse. Perhaps one of the 700 jobs has your name on it.
2. Marks And Spencer Cheshire Oaks Superstore
Marks and Spencer’s new superstore at Cheshire Oaks near Ellesmere Portis up the ranks from number 3 last week. Its 350 job vacancies are attracting applicants in droves to judge from this site. Just make sure you stand out from the crowd.
3. Westfield Stratford City Shopping Centre
You shouldn’t need to jump through hoops or run the minute mile in order to get one of the 14,000 jobs on offer at Olympic City, otherwise known as Westfield Stratford. But you will need a good CV and a powerful covering letter. Most of the jobs are in retail so tailor your application accordingly.
Asda’s proposed superstore, to be sited in Birkenhead, is up from number 8 last week. 400 job vacancies are certainly not to be sneezed at.
Up from number 7, so rising in anticipation of its October opening, is the Tesco superstore located in Yate. The number of jobs on offer will be in the hundreds, so make sure you’re near the front of the queue.
6. Morrisons’ Wrexham Superstore
Another superstore, this time Morrison’s, is opening and creating jobs – 350 of them. Wrexham will see it rise on the site of the former council Direct Works Division depot. Exchange is no robbery, they say.
7. Buckingham Palace Job Vacancies
It obviously appeals, the idea of handing letters on a silver salver and scooping up corgi poop behind the throne. But these are jobs like any others, so put your best foot forward and approach fearlessly.
8. Waitrose Superstore, Walton-le-Dale
Waitrose is about to start building its new superstore on the site of a former Tenpin bowling alley in Walton-le-Dale. It will eventually offer 200 job vacancies in the 2,900 square metre supermarket and customer café itself, plus there will be a huge warehouse, office space and a vehicle maintenance unit. Knock one down and another one pops up.
9. Amazon – Edinburgh Customer Service Centre
Get clicking all you Scots and see if the notice of this Amazon recruitment in Edinburgh can get as high as the one in Rugeley. It deserves to because there are 900 vacancies on offer here as opposed to the 700 in Rugeley.
Once again this is at number 10. There are a lot of people who need to know if they stand any chance at all of getting a job. The good news is that it’s not a terminal state: you can always brush up on your awareness and (dare I say it) your manners and you’ll no longer fit the category.
Just outside of the top ten are:
- British Home Stores, Hartlepool
- Primark, Edinburgh
- Tesco, NewtonAbbey
- Nifco, Stockton-on-Tees
- Royal Mail Christmas jobs
Dipstick of the Week
Oh the joy continues. Each day I dread what doltish offerings await me and I am rarely disappointed (although frequently dispirited and disillusioned)
First place: “i wish to apply for a job working in the new marks and spencer store in crystal peaks dept, iam working at the moment as a sales ass in card factory shop, but it is only for christmas job, iam lookin for a permanant place part or full time please.”
I really can’t see a sales ass as being something Marks and Sparks would want to recruit. It would run them out of fresh carrots for starters!
Second place: “any job avabile need to know soon”
Its sheer ignorance made this a close contender but the ‘sales ass’ won on the day. Good try though.
Third place: “I am looking for night and weekend work,I hav over 2 years experience in retail ,customer service and till work ,in Burton on Trent store”
This was one of a host of messages on different blogs from the same twit – he wins the Persistence Award for the week.
Not the happiest of weeks from a job news point of view. At the risk of sounding smug, I am glad not to be part of the rat-race any longer. If you are hunting for a job, you have my best wishes – good luck.
