Top 10 Job Stories Week Ending 13th August 2011

Welcome to this week’s review of what made our top ten busiest blog pages. There’s a big new entry in second place – not surprising considering the splash the story made when it hit the news.

OK, well here are the rest of the results!

1. Amazon – Rugeley Warehouse Fulfilment Centre

Still flying high at Number 1 although slightly on the wane is the story of Amazon and theUK’s largest privately-owned warehouse covering just over 6 hectares. 700 job vacancies are being created – will you get one of them?

2. Sahaviriya Steel Industries Jobs Bonanza

Steel is the story of the week

A real ‘mover and shaker’ is the story that’s take the nation by storm. Sahaviriya Steel Industries (SSI for short) have taken over the old Corus steelworks in Redcar and are creating about 1,000 job vacancies. So far they reckon some 5,000 people have applied.

3. Morrisons’ Wrexham Superstore

Down one place to Number 3 are Morrisons and their Wrexham superstore which will create 350 job vacancies.

4. Tesco Yate Superstore

Staying at No 4 is Tesco’s superstore in Yate which will cover 1.4 hectares and create hundreds of job vacancies when it opens its doors in October.

5. Westfield Stratford City Shopping Centre

Still there are the 14,000 jobs theoretically up for grabs in Westfield Stratford in London ready for next year’s Olympics.

6. Marks And Spencer Cheshire Oaks Superstore

Staying at No 6 are the 350 job vacancies being offered by Marks and Spencer at their 1.4 hectare flagship store at Cheshire Oaks on the Wirral.

7. Amazon Customer Service Centre In Edinburgh

Amazon - what else?

Also static at No 7 are Amazon (again) and their Edinburgh Customer Service Centre with its 900 jobs up for grabs.

8. Asda Superstore In Birkenhead

Asda are also busy in the Wirral with their superstore in Birkenhead. When finished, it will create 400 full-time and part-time job vacancies.

9. Waitrose Double-Whammy In Chester

We seem stuck in the Northwest! Waitrose are opening up two supermarkets in Birkenhead with the creation of 70 job vacancies. The first batch will be advertised any day now so get cracking!

10. Am I Unemployable?

I’m quite glad that this came in at Number 10 because I’ve been saving some of the lunatic comments we’ve had on the blog this week. No apologies to the idiots that left them although, much as they don’t deserve it, I’ve removed any way of identifying the poster. Otherwise they are unedited – so, warts and all.

Here they are – enjoy them because I didn’t. By the way, I don’t promise this treat

every week as my nerves won’t stand it.

Sounds like a screw is loose

First place goes to …

“I brought two packs of Precision screwdriver set from your place, and they have fell apart, when you go to unscrew something it turns in the shaft, meaning you ant turning anything, i think thats bad. i know they are cheap, but if you are selling them, they should be up for the job.”

Runners-up prizes to …

“I live in london & I find accomindation in Paris, I am interested in job vacancies at the restaurant in Champs-Elysees Paris. Could you please advise me where to send my CV?”

Apart from it not being the function of the website to do this, does anyone have any idea how many restaurants there are on the Champs Élysées?

… and …

“I have done all works because in the world people doing work.I am full confident on me and i have fully skilled person. But depends on you how u can describe me.If you give me jobs than I will prove you all companies depends on me in the UK”

What are you raving about?

Special eloquence awards go to (and these are the complete comments):

“i looking. for a any job”

Yes, I can believe that.

“Part time position”

“Hi Can you email the job vacancies where I can send my cv on to? Thanks”

“i would love to work at Tesco”

Some real winners there.

Anyway, there endeth the sermon as they say. If your patience and particular brand of deity permits, we shall meet again next week.

Follow the latest job developments on Facebook.

Have a very good weekend and be successful with your job hunting!
