As a Marks and Spencer Store Manager, you will be in direct control of a multi-million pound business. Your principal responsibilities will be to motivate and oversee your junior managers in order to get the optimum performance from them and everyone on your team.
You will be expected to thoroughly believe in what you do and the difference that you can make through your positive actions. Your role will be to keep the standard of service flying high while, at the same time, ensuring the whole enterprise remains profitable.
As a store manager you are required to be constantly looking for opportunities and ways in which you can adapt to the demands of the market and respond in kind to the initiatives of competing stores.

Obviously each job vacancy will dictate its own specific requirements however, typically, you will be required to demonstrate previous store experience entailing having:
- Had responsibility for controlling a budget of at least £3m
- Managed a high street store or been a deputy manager of a large department store
- Overseen a team of junior managers
- Had an active role in the design of store layouts
- Made and influenced policy decisions regarding standards of service

Typical pay for a Marks and Spencer Store Manager is between £30,000 and £45,000 p.a. depending upon your experience and the size of the store.
