In your job as a Marks and Spencer Home Section Manager, your responsibilities are to:
- Train your team in the current vogue for living and lifestyle.
- Demonstrate to them how to lead clients through the buying process especially for high-value purchases.
- Resolve queries and answer more complex customer questions.
- Show your staff how to advise customers about selecting the right product.
Marks and Spencer are looking for someone who has:
- A minimum of two years management experience
- Commercial awareness
- Appreciation of the need to minimise overheads
- Plenty of ideas for motivating staff and generating sales
- High standards and associated accuracy and attention to detail
The Marks and Spencer Home Section retails everything from bathroom accessories to bedding, curtains, kitchen utensils and furniture. This wide range of products requires the section’s staff to possess a comparable depth of knowledge. Since many items are ‘high value’, customers demand a greater degree of attention and expect a higher level of product awareness from staff.
Not only that, Marks and Spencer’s home section customers will wish to make orders for the supply of curtains, beds etc and even such things as wedding lists.
Salary: £18,000 – £25,000 dependent on the location of the store and the post-holder’s level of experience. The natural progression for a Home Section Manager is to become a Commercial Manager.
