In your job as a Marks and Spencer Visual Merchandising Section Manager, your responsibilities are to:
- Manage and motivate your team
- Arrange and supervise training (e.g. lingerie staff are expected to measure bra size requirement by purely visual means).
- Give advice to customers regarding garment selection and combinations of style and colour.
- Oversee the crucial clothes ordering desk, till and fitting room areas.
- Disseminate instructions from senior management.
- Maximise sales by implementing initiatives to increase customer product awareness.
Marks and Spencer are looking for someone who has:
- An in-depth understanding and appreciation of current fashions.
- A minimum of two years of experience working in the clothing industry.
- Commercial awareness, vigour and drive.
- An eye for detail.
- An innate sense of what will sell.
- The ability to think on their feet and adapt to the needs of the moment.
There are three separate clothing departments at Marks and Spencer – menswear, womenswear and childrenswear and each has its own dedicated team to run it although there are opportunities to acquire experience in other departments.
Salary: £18,000 – £25,000 dependent on the location of the store and the post-holder’s level of experience. The natural progression for a Clothing Section Manager is to become a Commercial Manager.
