Debenhams have just announced that they are creating 6,500 extra Christmas job vacancies – something which works out at an average of 40 seasonal employees per each of the retailer’s 163 stores.
The extra staff will be needed from mid-November until the end of the sales period at the beginning of January, 2012.
The jobs will be in a variety of positions including sales personnel, gift advisors and stock handlers. Debenhams say that last year’s recruits are particularly encouraged to reapply since they are hoping to acquire familiar faces in up to a third of the posts.
Another statistic that Debenhams are quoting is that they intend that around a quarter of the Christmas recruits will stay on in permanent positions.
